Guidance on the Transport of Packaged Dangerous Goods by Sea - Stop Loss 15
22 April 2005
The Club has been running a related initiative raising awareness of carriage of dangerous goods in containers. It has recently published a new Stop Loss information sheet entitled 'Guidance on the Transport of Packaged Dangerous Goods by Sea'. This seeks to provide the summary information required to assist anyone in the supply chain (manufacturer, shipper, forwarder, terminal and line) to identify the responsibilities that they need to discharge in order to avoid what the Club sees as a continuing trend of improper packing, stowage and documentation (both non-declaration and misdeclaration) that has led to an average of two major ship incidents for each of the last seven years. This Stop Loss dovetails with the seminar series that has already been given in about a dozen locations to hundreds of shipping executives over the last 15 months and will be supplemented by more detailed materials in the Publication section on the TT Club website.
