Career Ready is a UK national social mobility charity who work at the heart of employers and educators providing opportunities to disadvantaged young people. They work with companies, such as Thomas Miller, that believe every young person, regardless of background, deserves the opportunity to access a rewarding future. Career Ready aligns very well with where we are in delivering the Thomas Miller ESG strategy, fits very closely with our values and provides practical opportunities for us to make a real contribution.

Through our three-year partnership, Thomas Miller employees are supporting disadvantaged students aged between 16 and 18 who meet specific Career Ready social mobility criteria. The support includes a series of workplace visits to the Thomas Miller office in London, mentoring and skills masterclasses provided by our employee volunteers and four-week paid internships in our businesses. The students were given the chance to learn new skills and experience, preparing them for the world of work, whilst understanding the wider structure of Thomas Miller, and the importance their business areas all play towards the success of the Group.In addition, the five students were able to spend time in different departments that were of interest to help build an idea of where they might like to start focusing their future careers, such as within Marketing, Finance and ESG.

The interns spent their time across a number of different functions and businesses, one of which included TT Club. TT Club welcomed Elizabeth, who had the opportunity to learn new skills and experience, such as hands-on learning and industry exposure to further her career path consideration.
